German F1 duo lament predicament of home Grand Prix

Home representatives Sebastian Vettel and Nico Hulkenberg have expressed sadness over the impending exit of the German Grand Prix from Formula 1’s schedule. Germany first featured on the Formula 1 calendar in 1951 and at the turn of the century held two races a year, one at Hockenheim and one at the Nurburgring. A new contract came into place in the mid-2000s that resulted in the circuits sharing hosting duties of the German Grand Prix, but the Nurburgring withdrew from the deal after 2013. Hockenheim hosted the 2014 and 2016 Grands Prix as per the agreement to hold the event in even-numbered years, but that deal expires at the conclusion of this weekend’s round. Germany will...
