Bottas claims pole; Mercedes 1-2 – Qualifying Report

Austrian Grand Prix – Mercedes AMG have claimed the front row in qualifying for the race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, with Valtteri Bottas ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Valtteri Bottas set a 1:03.130 to claim pole position in Q3 in Austria, just 0.019 seconds clear of teammate Lewis Hamilton. Bottas had claimed provisional pole with his initial lap in Q3, with Hamilton failing to put in a clean lap first time around as he went wide at Turn 3. Keeping the power in resulted in a healthy dose of oversteer as he left the corner, meaning that Bottas went essentially unchallenged on the first run.
