Fernando Alonso: “I really hope this weekend was a one-off”

Fernando Alonso felt his French Grand Prix was compromised as early as the first lap as he fell down the order as others too short cuts to avoid the chaos ahead of them, while pitting early failed to give him any advantage in strategy. The McLaren F1 Team was outside the points when he pitted a second time towards the end of the race at the Circuit Paul Ricard, with the gamble aimed at attempting to set the fastest lap of the race.
