Vandoorne "future number one at McLaren"

Belgian racing legend Jacky Ickx is convinced that his fellow countryman Stoffel Vandoorne will be the number one driver at McLaren in future, as Ickx thinks that Vandoorne is very talented but lacks confidence. Vandoorne is quite clearly in the shadows of his teammate Fernando Alonso, as the Belgian is the only driver on the grid who still hasn't out-qualified his teammate; it's six-to-nil to the Spaniard. "I'm not part of the McLaren team, but it's clear that they're in a cramped position," Ickx told Belgian news source RTBF.
