Leclerc stars with Sauber’s best F1 result since Russia 2015

Charles Leclerc secured his maiden Formula 1 points finish with an eye-catching sixth place at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to give Alfa Romeo Sauber its best result since the 2015 Russian Grand Prix. The F1 rookie enjoyed a trouble-free race in a frantic round in Baku to carve his way up the order before defending from two-time world champion Fernando Alonso over the final few laps having earlier overtaken the McLaren driver with a smart move at Turn 1. Leclerc's historic sixth place sees him notch up his first F1 points while also recording the Swiss team’s best result since Felipe Nasr finished in the same position in Sochi three years ago.
