Alonso optimistic despite more qualifying disappointment

Fernando Alonso admitted on Saturday that McLaren still had work to do improving its qualifying form - but placed his hopes in the team's recent race performances giving them something to celebrate on Sunday. Alonso was eliminated at the end of the second round of qualifying. He ended the session in 13th but will start Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix from 12th place, once a gearbox penalty for Renault's Nico Hulkenberg has been applied. "Qualifying still isn’t the strongest part of our weekend," Alonso conceded afterwards. "This is the third time in a row where I’ve qualified 13th. "We normally seem to score good points from that position," he pointed out....
