Bottas left ruing costly qualifying crash

Valtteri Bottas was the highest profile casualty of qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix, after his Mercedes ended up in pieces in the safety barrier at the exit of turn 2. The session was red-flagged while the wreck was cleaned up and Bottas himself was attended to by the medical team. "All good," Bottas said when asked how he was feeling after a mandatory visit to the in-field medical centre for evaluation. "It started the first timed lap," he explained. "Used a bit more track in the exit of turn 1, went a bit too wide actually. "I think I was just pushing a bit too hard. I went wide in Turn 1 and the kerb was still a bit damp.
