Tombazis takes up single-seater role with FIA

Experienced former Benetton, Ferrari and McLaren chief designer Nikolas Tombazis has been appointed by the FIA to become its head of single-seater technical matters and will have core responsibilities in F1, F2 and F3. Tombazis will report to Gilles Simon, who is the FIA technical director and work in closely with Formula 1 race director Charlie Whiting. His role is expected to contribute to the long-term strategy and progress of the FIA's main single-seater championships. He will also help develop and formalise sporting and technical regulations in co-operation with F1 teams and related suppliers.
