Whitmarsh to take up F1 advisory role with FIA

Former McLaren Formula 1 team chief Martin Whitmarsh is set to take up an advisory role with the FIA to help define the series' future financial regulations. Whitmarsh worked at McLaren between 1989 and 2014, operating as team principal from 2009 following Ron Dennis' decision to step down. After leaving the team following a difficult 2013 campaign, Whitmarsh has since worked in America's Cup sailing and recently took up a place on Formula E's advisory board. Whitmarsh will now return to F1 via an advisory role with the FIA, helping the series' governing body to define future financial regulations amid Liberty Media's consideration of a cost cap and a restructuring of the current revenue...
