Debate of the Day: Was Sauber right to keep Ericsson?
The recent Alfa Romeo Sauber announcement may have pointed to Ferrari having enough of a say in the team's affairs to place two drivers of its choosing in the race setas for 2018, but that has not proven to be the case. Sauber confirmed on Saturday at a launch event it would be retaining Marcus Ericsson alongside the incoming Ferrari youngster and Formula 2 champion Charles Leclerc in 2018, leaving the Italian marque's other hopeful, Antonio Giovinazzi, to take up a third driver role. Ericsson has not scored any points in F1 since 2015, yet has been kept on in favour of previous teammates Felipe Nasr and Pascal Wehrlein amid reported links to the team's owners.
