McLaren set to run two cars in post-Abu Dhabi tyre test

McLaren is set to run two cars during the Abu Dhabi post-race tyre test on Tuesday and Wednesday to make up for the development time tyre supplier Pirelli lost when its previous test in Brazil was cancelled. McLaren and Pirelli had been set for a two-day tyre test in Brazil following the race to aid the Italian supplier's development work for 2018, but it was cancelled amid a spate of security breaches in which several teams were held up at gunpoint outside of the circuit. Pirelli has put in a request with Charlie Whiting to allow McLaren to run both of its cars, whilst the remaining nine teams will only have a sole car.
