Work undertaken at Interlagos to aid wet-weather running

The FIA has confirmed that measures have been taken at Interlagos to combat surface water, following last year’s rain-affected Brazilian Grand Prix. Heavy rain interrupted proceedings 12 months ago at Interlagos, with the race twice red-flagged, and neutralised on other occasions, due to an array of incidents. In his pre-event race notes, Formula 1 Race Director Charlie Whiting revealed that work has been carried out since last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix, in a bid to improve the situation. “Additional grooving of the track has been carried out in places where water was accumulating the most during the race last year, notably in Turns 2, 3, 12, 13, 14 and 15,” read...
