Ricciardo, Hartley get pre-race grid penalties in Mexico

Daniel Ricciardo and Brendon Hartley have both been hit with 20-place grid drops ahead of Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix after taking new elements on their Formula 1 power units following qualifying. Ricciardo qualified seventh for Red Bull on Saturday after a tricky session that saw him fail to match the pace of teammate Max Verstappen in second, prompting the team to consider taking a grid penalty in order to gain another fresh power unit element. The FIA stewards confirmed ahead of the race that Ricciardo's car had been fitted with a new internal combustion engine (ICE), turbocharger and MGU-H after qualifying, totalling a 20-place grid drop for the Australian.
