Williams penalised after missing tyre deadline by three seconds

The Williams F1 team has been handed a reprimand and a suspended €10,000 fine for a tyre infringement during first practice for the United States Grand Prix. Under F1 regulations, teams must hand back one set of tyres per driver from their weekend allocation after 40 minutes of the opening practice session. However, on Felipe Massa's car, the team missed that 40-minute deadline by just three seconds and were therefore called to the stewards office to explain why.
