Palmer gets 20-place Suzuka grid penalty

Jolyon Palmer has been added to the list of drivers taking grid penalties at the Japanese Grand Prix after Renault elected to fit new engine components ahead of final practice. The British driver has taken his fifth internal combustion engine, and his sixth turbocharger and MGU-H – which means he will take a 20-place grid penalty. The decision by Renault to fit new engines for Palmer and Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz this weekend has raised concerns that other drivers – including potentially Red Bull – will need to take extra engines before the end of the campaign.
