Pirelli plans sixth tyre compound for 2018

– Pirelli says it intends to introduce a sixth tyre compound in Formula 1 next year, to give it more flexibility, and plans to take a more aggressive approach to its selections.Pirelli currently has five tyre compounds – Ultra Soft, Super Soft, Soft, Medium and Hard – and selects three to be available for drivers at each Grand Prix.The company wants to give itself greater flexibility for next season and plans to add a sixth compound to its selection, and also wants to move softer with its choices.Pirelli took a relatively conservative approach to 2017, due to the introduction of wider tyres, but its Hard compound was used only once, in Spain, amid criticism from drivers.In...
