F1 relaxes rules over current cars for demos
– Formula 1's Sporting Regulations have been relaxed in order to allow current-spec cars to be run at any demonstration events organised by Liberty Media.Running outside of Grand Prix weekends is tightly restricted, with eight pre-season test days and four in-season days attended by all teams, alongside Pirelli tyre testing.Meanwhile, teams are allowed to run current-spec cars during two filming days, limited to 100km on Pirelli promotional tyres, and two 'Demonstration Events' [DEs].DE running is limited to 15km, and must not take place on F1 circuits, meaning they are often used to celebrate titles, such as when Mercedes ran at its Stuttgart base last December.However, a clause has...
