Hamilton, Mercedes comfortably top FP1
– Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes comfortably topped the timesheets during Friday morning's first free practice session for the Italian Grand Prix, with nearest rival and home team Ferrari over a second back.Hamilton lapped slower than team-mate Valtteri Bottas during the early runs on Soft tyres, but leapt forward with the Super Softs, making several improvements.He ended up almost half a second clear of Bottas, despite a mistake on one of his push laps, with the Silver Arrows the only cars to dip under the 1m22s mark.Dark clouds lingered over the circuit throughout the session, with a few rain drops falling, but drivers remained on slicks, amid warm temperatures.Sebastian Vettel, who...
