Alonso ‘happy' to work with McLaren, not Honda
Fernando Alonso refused to say point blank that McLaren need to rid themselves of the Honda engine in order to retain his services for next season, but the implication was there. The double World Champion ran as high as P7 after a flying start but three laps later was down in 10th place. He labelled McLaren-Honda's pace 'embarrassing, very embarrassing' as he continued to fall down the order. Alonso was 14th when he retired, parking his MCL32 in the McLaren pits. 'No there was a problem, an engine issue,' the Spaniard after being questioned about his motives behind retiring the car.
