Robert Kubica says wider cars caught him out after garage drama

Robert Kubica has admitted he was caught out by the new wider cars during his first outing in the Renault R.S.17 after he clattered the garage wall. The Polish driver is hoping to make a comeback in 2018 and got the opportunity to test Renault's 2017 car during the Hungarian in-season test this week, having previously driven a Lotus E20. However the new generation of cars are now 200mm wider, featuring much larger rear tyres, which Kubica says caught him out as he clipped the wall, causing a sign to fall down, narrowly missing the car and a Renault mechanic.
