Hungaroring Day 1 Test: Leclerc fastest for Ferrari

< > Two days after sweeping to a one-two at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Ferrari topped the timing sheets again as Charles Leclerc clocked the quickest time at the end of the opening day of this week’s two-day Formula 1 in-season on a very hot day at Hungaroring.' With ambient temperatures in the mid-30s Celsius, a late improvement from Leclerc – the Formula 2 championship leader – saw him pip McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne on his first outing in 2017 F1 machinery. Valtteri Bottas was third on the timing screens at the end of the day, carrying out tyre work for Pirelli. Mercedes’ team programme was conducted by their junior driver George Russell.
