FIA releases first shot of 'shield' device

– Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, has revealed the first shot of the 'shield' cockpit protection device, which is set to be tested for the first time at the British Grand Prix.Improved driver protection has long been investigated by the FIA, with the issue coming under fresh scrutiny following the deaths of Jules Bianchi and Justin Wilson.F1 chiefs previously favoured the 'halo', which wraps around the cockpit in the form of three struts, and was trialled during several free practice sessions and tests last year.A solution was initially set to arrive for the 2017 season, but this was delayed by a year, allowing additional analysis to be undertaken on the various available...
