Chaotic Azerbaijan GP red-flagged due to debris on track

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was red-flagged after 22 laps on Sunday following chaotic scenes and multiple safety car periods that had left the track strewn with debris. Following a relatively incident-free opening phase to the race – apart from a Turn 2 clash between Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen – the trigger for events came on lap 11 when Daniil Kvyat's Toro Rosso stopped with a mechanical problem on the hill section. A decision was taken to bring out the safety car to allow marshals to help retrieve the Toro Rosso.
