Alonso "will stay" at McLaren if it wins by September

Fernando Alonso has suggested the McLaren-Honda Formula 1 team needs to be winning grands prix by September to convince him to stay for 2018. Alonso has yet to finish on the podium since rejoining McLaren in 2015 and his current contract expires this year. "We have to win," said Alonso in Montreal on Thursday. "If we are winning, before September or something like that, I will make a decision and I will stay." Alonso's comments follow McLaren executive director Zak Brown expressing "serious concerns" about Honda and saying the team was "near our limit".
