Mercedes engine modes give Williams the edge - Sainz

Carlos Sainz believes that Mercedes’ engine modes are playing a key part in helping Williams lead the midfield pack in Formula 1 at the moment. Although Sainz’s Toro Rosso team are fourth in the constructors’ championship, the Spaniard thinks that it is Williams that holds a slight edge in both qualifying and the race. However, he feels that one of the key factors that is allowing Williams to shine – especially on Saturday – is the way that Mercedes’ qualifying engine modes can give it a big boost for the Q3 runs.
