Kaltenborn: Incomprehensible why the stewards didn’t react

Sauber were left seething after Haas driver Kevin Magnussen escaped a penalty after clattering into Marcus Ericsson, during the frenzy of the first lap of the Australian Grand Prix, as the field hurtled into Turn 3. Magnussen appeared to brake too late and as a result clipped the rear of Ericsson's Sauber, causing both cars to spin off into the sand. They recovered and rejoined the race, but their afternoon's work was severely compromised by the incident. The FIA stewards looked at the circumstances and deemed it a racing incident, 'Ericsson did leave enough room, and Magnussen who was fully on the inside took a reasonable line, but unfortunately the action of the kerb forced him wide and...
