Australian GP: Vettel beats Hamilton to Melbourne win

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel beat pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton to victory in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, thanks to a superior strategy call. Hamilton’s Mercedes led from pole position, heading Vettel, Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull). Vettel remained within striking distance of Hamilton in the opening stint, and stayed out when Hamilton pitted relatively early. Hamilton then lost time when he became stuck behind Verstappen.
