Stroll gets grid penalty for Australian GP

Lance Stroll will have to take a five-place grid penalty for the Australian Grand Prix, his Williams car requiring a gearbox change as a result of his FP3 crash. The Canadian swiped his right rear wheel into the barriers on the exit of Turn 10 in the closing minutes of final practice – which then pitched his Williams into the wall. Initial investigations by the team have confirmed that there was damage to the front wing and front suspension, as well as the gearbox. Williams confirmed that a replacement gearbox was being fitted ahead of qualifying in a bid to help get the rookie back into action.
