Australian GP: Unfit Sauber driver Pascal Wehrlein pulls out of race

Sauber driver Pascal Wehrlein has pulled out of the Australian Grand Prix after encountering problems arising from a pre-season back injury. The German, 22, injured his back in a crash in the Race of Champions in January. He will be replaced by Ferrari third driver Antonio Giovinazzi. Wehrlein blamed a lack of fitness arising from the disruption the injury caused to his pre-season training. "My fitness level is not as it should be for a full race distance," he said.
