Pirelli believes objectives met with 2017 cars

– Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli believes the sport has achieved its objectives with faster cars this year, following the opening test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.Formula 1 set an aim of improving lap times by three to five seconds when new regulations were announced in 2015, following criticism from some quarters over slow times.Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas set the quickest time of the four-day test, with a lap of 1:19.705 on the Ultra Soft tyres, while Sebastian Vettel also posted a sub 1:20s on Soft tyres.In comparison, pole position for the 2015 Spanish Grand Prix was a 1:24.681, with last year's Q3 best a 1:22.000, considerably slower than the efforts already...
