Hamilton edges Vettel to top test day one

Barcelona Testing – Lewis Hamilton emerged as the fastest driver as three drivers eclipsed the 2016 testing record on the first day of testing. To view the morning report, click here. With times already edging closer to the best laps from last year, Felipe Massa was the first man to break the 2016 barrier. The Williams man edged under the target time with a 1:22.727. He then beat his own lap time by a further two tenths of a second, which was then eclipsed by Lewis Hamilton, who took over from Valtteri Bottas for the afternoon running and registered a mighty 1:21.765 lap on soft tyres.
