Smedley doubts major change in F1 order
– Formula 1's pecking order is unlikely to be shaken up by the overhauled regulations arriving for 2017, according to Williams performance chief Rob Smedley.Formula 1 will enter a new technical era this year, with cars set to be three-to-five seconds per lap faster, as a result of increased downforce levels and wider Pirelli tyres.Previous regulation changes have sometimes resulted in a new pace-setter emerging, such as in 2014, when Mercedes vaulted to the front under V6 turbo power units.Smedley, though, doubts the changes for 2017 will have such an effect.
