Lewis Hamilton says helmet competition attracted 8,000 entries
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says the competition to design his racing helmet for the 2017 campaign attracted over 8,000 entries. Hamilton recently launched a competition for a supporter to create the scheme which he will wear in Formula 1 this season, the first time a driver has unveiled such an initiative for a full-time campaign, rather than a one-off race. “Wow, over 8,000 [entries],” the three-time F1 champion posted on his official Instagram page, having asked fans to evolve his current design, which was introduced in 2014. “Thanks for all the helmet designs and putting in so much effort! “There’s some really great entries in there.
