Webber named Officer of the Order of Australia

Newly retired Formula 1 and World Endurance Championship ace Mark Webber has been honored on Australia Day with one of his native country’s highest national awards. Webber, from Queanbeyan, New South Wales, has gained the title of Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to motorsport as a competitor and ambassador, and to the community, through fundraising and patronage of a range of medical and youth support organizations.” Webber, who scored nine grand prix wins and three times finished third in the Formula 1 World Championship, switched to the World Endurance Championship for 2014 driving the Porsche 919 in LMP1.
