Analysis: Mexican GP strategy choices remain wide open

Pirelli admits that qualifying and race strategy remains wide open in Mexico after a complicated first day of running at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Cold temperatures on Friday and a dusty, green track made FP1 in particular very difficult for the teams, and Pirelli was surprised by the lack of evolution of the surface over the last 12 months. Although the tyre manufacturer believes that there is less of an advantage for those who might try to get out of Q2 and start on the soft tyre than was the case in Austin, there remains a possibility that Mercedes and possibly Ferrari and Red Bull may have the confidence to do so.
