Sector one separates the Mercedes duo

United States Grand Prix – Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg conceded that sector one was the main difference between their qualifying efforts in Austin. The challenge for pole position ended up being a contest between the two Mercedes drivers, with their nearest challengers falling several tenths behind on the timing sheets. Despite narrowly edging Hamilton in both sector two and three, Rosberg was ultimately forced to settle for second place after falling three tenths of a second short in sector one.
