Alonso hopeful McLaren slump a one-off
Fernando Alonso is hopeful McLaren's slump in the Japanese Grand Prix was just a one-off and the team will return to form in the United States. Alonso finished Honda's home race down in 16th position as McLaren lacked pace all weekend. Teammate Jenson Button had an even worse weekend and, after being knocked out in Q1, the Briton finished the race in 18th place. Alonso reckons that, for reasons McLaren is yet to find, the poor weekend was just a one-off and not the norm. "We've been lacking speed all weekend. We have to find the reason," said Alonso.
