Mercedes withdraws Verstappen protest
– Mercedes has withdrawn the protest it initially lodged against Max Verstappen's driving at the Japanese Grand Prix, meaning that the results of Sunday's race are now official.Mercedes decided to protest Verstappen's defensive driving during the closing stages at Suzuka as he defended second position against Lewis Hamilton.However, with both drivers having departed the circuit, the stewards elected to delay a hearing until the Thursday of the United States Grand Prix.Yet in a further twist Mercedes decided to withdraw its protest notice, with Hamilton initially posting on social media that there is "no protest" and that "one idiot said we have but it's not...
