Rosberg leads Mercedes 1-2 in opening Japanese practice
Japanese Grand Prix – Mercedes took a 1-2 finish in FP1 at Suzuka, with Nico Rosberg leading the way ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel finished P3. As is the norm for an FP1 session at a circuit which didn't have rain looming, the start of the first practice session of the weekend was slow to get started. Installation laps were the name of the game in the opening fifteen minutes, with the first timed lap on the board being set by Force India's Sergio Perez.
