Honda given extra token boost by FIA

Honda has unexpectedly been handed an extra power unit token for the remainder of the season after the FIA clarified the Japanese company’s usage for its Malaysian updates. Honda applied to the FIA to use two tokens in Sepang, for a revised engine block and exhaust. The changes were tested by Fernando Alonso during Friday practice and, following encouraging results, the Spaniard will be racing with the updates this weekend. However, Motorsport.com can reveal that the FIA has clarified that Honda did not need to use a token for the engine block - because the changes were for reliability reason and not performance.
