Sainz recovers from engine cut-out on starting grid but goes home pointless

Malaysian Grand Prix – Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz had to settle for P11 after a strong race, having barely managed to start after his engine turned off on the starting grid. Sainz had a competitive race, rising up from P16 to P11 on the eventful first lap before climbing up as high as P6 as others in front pitted or had incidents. However, with Toro Rosso running a 2015-spec Ferrari engine that is no longer competitive at power-hungry circuits such as Sepang, he fell back down the order to finish just P11 at the chequered flag despite several retirements of faster car.
