Fuel pipe issue to blame for Magnussen fire

Malaysian Grand Prix – Renault have put the car fire Kevin Magnussen suffered in FP1 down to a fuel pipe issue. The Dane was returning from an installation lap in FP1 when his Renault caught fire, with Magnussen having to leap out of the car and the mechanics spray the car with their fire extinguishers. It was caused by a broken valve in the fuel breather pipe which leaked fuel from a vent at the top of the car which then spilled out onto the bodywork. The session was red flagged while the mechanics put the fire out, which took some ten minutes due to the continued leaking of the fuel.
