Vandoorne: 2017 was 'last chance' for seat

– McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne says he knew he had to secure a full-time Formula 1 seat in 2017 if he was to ever graduate to the sport's top echelon.Vandoorne swept to the 2015 GP2 Series title but was kept as McLaren's test and reserve driver this year, as the team elected to retain Jenson Button alongside Fernando Alonso.Vandoorne remained active in Japanese Super Formula this season and also made his Formula 1 debut in Bahrain, when he finished 10th, having replaced the injured Alonso.McLaren's 2017 driver line-up remained a key talking point for much of the season until it was announced in Italy that Button would step aside for Vandoorne."I remember a year ago when I was...
