Perez: It was a special from myself

After Force India went back ahead of Williams on the Constructors’ Championship standings, Sergio Perez claimed that he put in a special effort to claim the team's only points. Perez, who started P17 following his eight-place grid penalty, went on a 36-lap stint on the soft tyre compound to give himself a fighting chance to break into the top ten at the Marina Bay Street Circuit on Sunday. The strategy proved fruitful as the Mexican scored Force India's only points of the race after team-mate Nico Hulkenberg crashed out seconds after the green light.
