Button announces he will not race in 2017, Vandoorne confirmed

Italian Grand Prix – Jenson Button has announced he will not be racing in Formula One in 2017. The Briton's future has been the topic of much discussion in recent months, as Fernando Alonso is already contracted for next year and McLaren have had their young protege Stoffel Vandoorne waiting in the wings for two years now. The 2009 world champion revealed today he has signed a two-year deal with McLaren that puts him in a development/ambassador role for 2017 to work on car development ahead of the regulation changes which are designed to increase the speed of the cars by up to 5 seconds per lap. He also revealed this contract has an option for 2018 to return him to a racing role...
