Rosberg proves Halo efficiency in FP1 by setting fastest time

Belgian Grand Prix – Nico Rosberg was one of the drivers to trial the Halo device during first practice at Spa, and set the fastest time of the session while it was fitted. The Halo concept has been a contentious one since it was first trialled in pre-season testing at the Circuit di Catalunya by Ferrari. The preferred option for cockpit protection, the FIA have pushed out the introduction of the technology due to the lack of comprehensive research yet available. However, in what appears to be an effort to escalate this research, both Mercedes' Nico Rosberg & Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz ran the Halo on their cars during FP1.
