– As Formula 1 gears up for the second half of the 2016 season, GPUpdate.net looks back at some of the most memorable moments at Spa-Francorchamps, which hosts the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend.1966 – Stewart crash sparks safety drive Old Spa-Francorchamps, still traceable on current public roads, was a dangerous high-speed circuit lined by trees, with little in the way of protection, even by 1960s safety standards. Heavy rain struck on the opening lap of the race and Sir Jackie Stewart spun off, struck a telegraph pole and finished upside down, trapped in his car, which was doused in fuel.
