Smedley: F1 can't go back to something that doesn't exist anymore

© WRI2 Williams' Head of Vehicle Performance, Rob Smedley, believes Formula 1 is in an era which fully justifies drivers receiving assistance from their team during races, and that the public's vision of the sport should evolve accordingly. On the back of the FIA's easing of the rules determining radio communication between a team and its drivers, Smedly argues that the radio clampdown did not make sense as the sport's degree of complexity not only warrants but renders necessary a team/driver communication.
