Pirelli on the defensive over wet weather tyres

Pirelli has hit back at claims, made veteran driver by Felipe Massa, that their tyres are to blame for the dearth of wet-weather racing in the current Formula 1 era. Whilst safety standards in the sport have steadily improved, the other trend of the last decade is that F1 race director Charlie Whiting is increasingly prone to halting track action in the event of rain. F1 veteran Felipe Massa told UOL the situation has arisen because of Pirelli's rain tyres, 'The problem we have is the aquaplaning on these tyres.'
