F1 teams to debate wet weather standing starts
F1 teams will this week debate the idea of having standing starts in wet conditions in order to avoid the sort of situation seen at the British GP, where fans were denied the opportunity to see a proper start. The plan is that in wet conditions after several laps of safety car running instead of the field simply being released, as was the case at Silverstone, everyone will stop on the grid and conduct a normal start. Those safety car laps will then effectively be formation laps on extreme wet tyres. A similar idea to to be applied to all safety car restarts has previously been adopted, but it was dropped without being used because after further debate it was felt that it was too complicated...
